The Church on the corner
Every day as I drove to work,
a small church on a busy corner
painted a picture of tranquility
amongst the noisy highway.
The church was small but inviting,
with a powerful steeple and windows of colorful glass,
faint bell chiming in the morning air,
and red doors beckoning passerby.Â
Many months I sat at the intersection and wondered,
should I turn left and visit the church,
should I consider renewing my faith,
should I heed the calling I feel in my heart?
Daily, I would ponder the church on the corner,
but I always continued forward,
always pushing the church into the back of my mind,
passing it by with just a glance.
Every day as I drove to work,
a small church on a busy corner
faded into my rear-view mirror
until one warm spring day, I gazed at the church
and turned left at the intersection.
