I Have Come to SEt the World On Fire
~ Luke 12:49 ~
A moral compass: what we aspire
To point towards the Good, the True, and what’s Right—
Among breaking glass, shouts, and gunfire.
The rift breaches between serf and squire.
On streets chalked bodies are outlined in white.
What answers are there, wise minds inquire?
Debates, protests, partisan crossfire—
Politicians bicker as day turns night
Among breaking glass, shouts, and gunfire.
Has the world gone utterly haywire?
So much darkness striving to snuff out light.
What answers are there, wise minds inquire?
We might as well ride bikes across mire.
Reams of speeches plainly shade and blind sight
Among the cries and pleas of ceasefire.
Who is the one to whom we can aspire?
Is there someone whom we can hold up his light—
Someone whose love ignites our hearts afire?
I know of one who is my heart’s desire.
